It was 16 Feb, 2019. The guests were leaving after celebrating Fay’s 5th birthday. Immediately, Fay and his brother Mason rushed to open the birthday gifts. Their excitement grew upon unwrapping a big gift box. It was a classroom doll set. It had several desk, chairs, tables, whiteboard, teacher, students, books, posters, and shelves. They admired the appearance of the dolls and immediately started to arrange the dolls into their dreamy classroom. Soon they were exhausted with their play and went to sleep.

The classroom doll set added to Fay’s large doll collection. Fay was always very fond of dolls and was carried away by their beauty, shape, and design. She never missed to collect a new doll from the market. Fay’s huge army of dolls counted to 100 in total. In particular, she was attracted to the classroom set. All were student boy dolls except the teacher, which was a Barbie. Mason had named that teacher doll as ‘Isabella.’ Fay played with the dolls all the time.

Mason’s exam was approaching. It was scheduled on 15th March 2019. He was working very hard.

Mason had gone to school to appear for his exams; Fay was playing with her dolls. She was playing her favorite game, that is trying to arrange her classroom set dolls into rows and columns. First, she took the boy dolls and then waited to pick the one unique teacher, the girl doll. Something was weird this time. As soon as she was about to take ‘Isabella’, she noticed that it was missing. She thought she missed collecting Isabella from her toy room. She went to the toy room to find her doll but it was not there. She searched behind the couch, near the television, in the kitchen, below stairs, and on the playground but could not find her doll. Fay was extremely upset. The teacher doll was missing from her set. She was not sure where to find her doll now.

In the afternoon, Mason came back from school. He was very happy because he scored 100/100 in his exam. He wanted to share the news with Fay, his parents and his friends. As soon as he reached home, he heard strange noises. He got worried and scared. He opened the door hurriedly and saw Fay was crying. He ran towards Fay and asked her if he can help. Fay said crying, “Do you know where my doll is? My teacher doll, the Isabella one?”

Mason promised to help her and bring back Isabella. After a little while, he came back with Isabella from the toy room. Fay was surprised and happy to see her back. She rushed to take the doll from Mason’s hand and she was no longer crying. She was curious to know how Mason found the doll, which she was not able to find since morning.

Fay asked Mason, “Where did you find the doll?” Mason was little quiet and shy in saying anything. It seemed, Mason was trying to tell something but could not. Fay asked again, “Where did you get it?” Finally, Mason tried to say, “Isabella was with me.” He took a pause and continued, “I took her to school in my backpack.” Fay was angry and little bit surprised that Mason took Fay’s doll with him. She shouted, “Why did you take my doll? Why…?”

Mason finally shared his secret. He replied, “I like Isabella a lot. Isabella is a teacher with an enthusiastic smile.” Fay was a little surprised. He went on to share how Isabella used to help him focus in his studies and motivated him to do things better. It also helped him to stay calm when he does not know things. Fay was amazed. Mason resumed, “I used to play with Isabella from a long time during my study breaks. I had an exam today and that is why I specially took it to school so that I can do well in my exam. I went to your room in the morning and kept the boy doll in my backpack without your knowledge.”

“Why didn’t you tell me then?” questioned Fay. “I did not want to make you feel sad”, said Mason. “Do you know, I got full marks because of Isabella?” Hearing this, Fay was smiling and delighted. She went and hugged Mason.

“Ok, that’s fine forget about the past. We will now play together”, said Fay. Mason agreed and hugged her. The doll play continued for the rest of the day.

A cute and an interesting story. Took me to my childhood when I used to play with dolls with my friends, though never had the opportunity to own a variety like Fay. The narrative is innocent and simple. A good read.

Such a cute and interesting story. It reminded me of the days when I unwrapped my birthday gifts in sleepy eyes and how my parents stopped me from from playing during the exam. Its simple and innocent. A good read.

Perhaps one the cutest story I’ve ever come across. This should come as a lesson and an eye opener to every person who attributes playing with dolls as a feminish peculiarity. A sweet story told through the eyes of an innocent child which shakes the stereotypes of the modern society where gender issues are rampantly being dealt with. Welcome, young author, to the dreamworld of writers. A praiseworthy debut indeed!

They say it true! Children have heart of pure gold. While we all grown ups fight over what girls should do & what boys should do, this child in his story showed us how it really does not matter. All they want is to Play with their closed ones, be it with barbie or cars! Lots of love dear one, keep up your wonderful work of writing such beautiful stories. Godspeed to you dear.
