About Khalid Tailche

Khalid Basher Mikha Tailche received a B.A. in English from the University of Baghdad in 1990, and completed his M.A. in 2007, and Ph.D. in Literature both from the University of São Paulo in 2012. Post-doctoral research in 2015 in comparative literature from the University of São Paulo and New York University. His research in Comparative Literature deals with two Arab literary societies in the diaspora in the cities of New York and São Paulo during the first half of the 20 century.

Poem by Iraqi poet, Yousif Alsaigh

Cover Image :. Dedicated to the Iraqi soldiers who died in the Iraq-Iran war that lasted for eight years starting from 1980, Al-Shaheed Monument was built in 1983. Designed by architect Saman Kamal and sculptor and artist Ismail Fatah Al Turk, the monument consists of an enormous turquoise-tiled dome, 40 meters tall. The dome is split down the middle and the two halves offset, with the walls of the dome sheltering an eternal flame in the middle.
