Koral Dasgupta

Koral Dasgupta is an author, academic, art patron and columnist.

Koral was born in Kolkata, amidst a fiercely and politically aroused Bengal. Since Ganguly didn’t play then, the family divided their loyalties between Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev. Fairly conservative upbringing kept her away from the fashion trends of 1980’s, but the house full of books from world literature space kept her sufficiently occupied. On lonely afternoons when her parents would be away for work, the characters in those books assumed physical forms and roamed in the world she created in her mind. Secretly, she is an obsessive reader. She reads voraciously and impatiently, to complete a book she likes; but once done she misses the story and its fictional presence.
Indian mythology is especially close to her heart.

Koral studied at St. Stephen’s School, Dum Dum, till class 10. She moved to Loreto Day School, Bowbazar for plus two level. She completed her graduation (Economics Hons.) from Viswa Bharati, Santiniketan and her MBA from Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. Post that she has been a sincere student towards everything that life has taught in nice and nasty ways.

Koral is an author, columnist, academic, content consultant and amateur artist. Her books tend to explore the romantic and mystic journeys of art professionals.
She teaches Marketing Management studies, Communications and Creative Writing to the post graduate levels in management and journalism colleges.
Her speeches, talks and workshops are extremely well received by schools, colleges, corporate and thematic meets across India. She addresses gatherings on art, education, social media practices, self-branding technics, storytelling and others.
She is also a Content Consultant and works with corporate houses in the editorial and marketing space to develop audience-friendly web and print literature.
Her paintings, inspired by Madhubani art form, are usually auctioned and the proceeds are given away towards issues and causes that need financial aids.
Koral is an advisory member at the Censor Board of Film Certification and reports from Mumbai.
