Born on 2nd October, 1999 to truck driver Virendra Kumar Gautam and Chamanlata, Kalpana Gautam hails from Mathura, U.P. She is pursuing her graduation from A.S.M. Mahavidyala. She wants to appear for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test and then do MBBS. But she is afraid that the economic condition of her family might impair her dreams. She wants to become a doctor.
We are three sisters and a brother. We all depend on the income of my father. My father has been driving since last 15 years. He began his driving career with an autorickshaw. He used to work for the autorickshaw owner who would call him any time and my father would rush to work, even without eating a morsel of food or drop of water. If he made any mistake, the auto owner would deduct money from his salary. He had to bow before the wishes of the auto owner.
Fed up with it, he learnt driving truck and became a truck driver. The truck owner used to pay him Rs 3000 per month which was barely sufficient to run the family and bringing up the four children besides meeting our educational expenses. He wanted to give the best education he could afford and the salary was not at all sufficient.
